By-Laws Of The Saint Bernard Club Of Puget Sound
Article 1a ................................................... Membership
Section 1a.1 .................... Application Form
1a.1.1 The Application Form Shall Have A Schedule Of Dues And Initiation Fees Preprinted
Upon The Face Of The Form.
1a.1.2 The Application Form Shall Have A Place For The Applicant Or
Applicants To Indicate That They Will Abide By The Rules And
Regulations Of Both This Club And The American Kennel Club.
Section 1a.2 .................... Annual Dues
1a.2.1 Membership Dues For A Single Membership Shall Be $20.00 Per Year.
Membership Dues For A Dual Or A Husband / Wife Membership Shall Be
$30.00 Per Year.
1a.2.2 The Board, At Its Discretion, May Authorize A Reduced Fee For
Those Applications Which Would Be In Effect For Only Some Portion Of A Year.
Section 1a.3 .................... Initiation Fees
1a.3.1 There Shall Be An Initiation Fee Of $5.00 For A Single Membership.
1a.3.2 There Shall Be An Initiation Fee Of $5.00 For A Dual Or Husband /Wife Membership.
Article 2a ..................................................... Meetings
Section 2a.1 .................... Notice Of Meetings
2a.1.1 It Shall Be An Objective Of The Club That Notice Of The Time, Date
And Place Of All Regular And Board Meetings Will Appear In The
Monthly Club Newsletter Published Preceding The Meeting Date.
Article 3a ..................................... Committees And Positions
Section 3a.1 .................... Standing Committees
3a.1.1 The Board Of Directors Shall Maintain Committees And Positions As
Deemed Necessary.
Section 3a.2 .................... Special Committees
3a.2.1 It Shall Be An Objective Of The Club To Maintain At Least The
Following Special Committees.
Show Plans Committee: The Board Of Directors Shall Appoint
Members Of This Committee And The Committee Members Shall Elect
The Chairman.
Constitution And By-Laws Review: The Chairman Shall Also Be The
Club Parliamentarian.
3a.2.2 Once During The Course Of Each Club Year, The Following Committees
Shall Be Appointed, Shall Perform Their Specified Duties As
Prescribed In The Constitution And Shall Disband:
Nominating Committee
Auditing Committee
Tellers Committee
Section 3a.3 .................... Duties
3a.3.1 Each Committee Chairman Shall Be Responsible For The Functioning
Of His Committee As Specified By The Board Of Directors.
3a.3.2 Each Committee Chairman Shall Be Responsible For Submitting A
Report Of The Activities, Plans Progress, Problems, Etc. Of His
Committee At Each Regular Meeting Of The Club And The Board Of
Directors.
3a.3.3 Each Committee Chairman Shall Be Responsible For Recommending The
Updating Of The Written Job Description Which Is Applicable To His
Particular Function.
Article 4a ....................................................... Awards
Section 4a.1 .................... Eligibility For Office
4a.1.1 It Shall Be An Objective Of The Club That No More Than One Member
Of Any Household Unit Of Family Hold An Elective Office At The
Same Time.
Section 4a.2 .................... Campaigning For Office
4a.2.1 Each Nominee For Each Position Or Officer Or Governor Shall Be
Given And Is Encouraged To Accept The Opportunity To Have
Published In The January Club Newsletter A Synopsis Of His
Qualifications And Objectives For The Position He Is Seeking.
4a.2.2 It Shall Be An Objective To Have The January Newsletter Mailed To
All Members At Least Fourteen Days Prior To The Annual Meeting.
4a.2.3 At The Annual Meeting Just Prior To The Balloting, Each Candidate
Shall Be Given The Opportunity To Make A Verbal Statement Of His
Qualifications And Objectives And To Answer Any Questions Asked.

5a.1.1 At The Annual Meeting, The Club Shall Give A Suitable Award To
Each Member Whose Dog (S) Has / Have Accomplished The Following
During The Preceding Year:

Section 5a.2 ................... Awards Based Upon Statistical Evaluation
5a.2.1 The Clubs Statistician Shall Each Year Identify The Recipient Of
Each Of The Following Titles Based Upon Achievement In Washington
And Oregon By A Club Members Dog:
Top Obedience Dog Of The Year
Top Show Dog Of The Year - All Breed Shows
Top Show Dog Of The Year - Specialty Shows
Top Show Bitch Of The Year - All Breed Shows
Top Show Bitch Of The Year - Specialty Shows
5a.2.2 The Clubs Statistician Shall Each Year Identify The Washington
State Breeder Of The Year, Stud Dog Of The Year And Brood Bitch Of
The Year. This Award Shall Be Limited To Club Members Only.
5a.2.3 A Suitable Award Shall Be Given At The Annual Meeting For These
Achievements.
Section 5a.3 .................... Additional Awards
5a.3.1 Additional Awards Shall Be Made At The Annual Meeting As Deemed
Appropriate, Which Shall Include:

5a.3.2 At The Annual Meeting The Members In Attendance Shall Select By
Secret Ballot The Recipients Of The Following Awards:

Most Improved Handler
Article 6a ................................................ Miscellaneous
Section 6a.1 .................... Conduct
6a.1.1 Each Member Of The Board Of Directors And All Committee Chairman
Shall Be Especially Careful To Conduct Themselves In Such A Manner
As To Insure The Best Possible Human Relationships Are Maintained
At All Times.
Section 6a.2 .................... Precedence
6a.2.1 In The Event There Is A Contradiction Between The Constitution And
These By-Laws, The Constitution Shall Govern.
Section 6a.3 .................... Saint Bernard Club Of America
6a.3.1 It Shall Be An Objective Of The Club To Maintain An Active
Intercourse With The Saint Bernard Club Of America, And To Strive
For Mutual Cooperation In Seeking To Achieve Our Common Goals.
6a.3.2 Each Member Of This Club Is Strongly Encouraged To Be A Member Of
The Saint Bernard Club Of America, And To Be Active In Its
National Activities And Affairs.
Section 6a.4 .................... Club Promotion
6a.4.1 It Shall Be An Objective Of The Club To Establish A Working
Relationship With As Much Of The Local Saint Bernard Fancy As Is
Reasonable And Practicable.
6a.4.2 In Order To Aid In The Establishment Of This Relationship, The
Club Shall Place An Advertisement In Various Local Newspapers As
Is Deemed Appropriate.
6a.4.3 The Advertisement Shall Be Worded So That The Message Imparted Is
One Of An Offer Of Fellowship, Information, Education And / Or
Service.
6a.4.4 The Answering Service For The Advertisement Shall Be Rotated Among
The Membership And Be Wide Spread As Is Reasonable Or Possible.
